Behind the Public Bar fronting Oxford and Nelson Streets are spaces hidden through connecting passageways. Step through to The Nelson Hotel’s Beer Garden, Bistro or Saloon Bar, depending on which way you turn, while upstairs is our hidden gem, Level One.
LEVEL ONE
The newest reinstated space at The Nelson Hotel is this dedicated function space which ensures you can enjoy your celebration in a private space, filled with the art deco wonder expected of this local gem of a pub.
DARTS
Up on Level One at The Nelson Hotel is the perfect darts setup. With two darts boards and scoring machines, plus tables nearby for food and drinks, you can while away the afternoon attempting to hit the bullseye.
SPORTS LOUNGE
Also on Level One at The Nelson Hotel is our Sports Lounge. With a bunch of TV screens and a projector, it’s the place to watch sport live and loud with mates over a cold beer. It can even be booked for semi-private functions.
PUBLIC BAR
The first port of call for most patrons, The Nelson Hotel’s original interwar period Public Bar is a favourite place for catching up with mates, watching sport live and loud, playing pool or placing a punt on the TAB, all while reminiscing about the six o’clock swill.
SALOON BAR
A cosy Art Deco cocoon, The Nelson Hotel’s Saloon Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a meal, indulge in a cocktail, catch some sport live and loud or savour a quiet catch up away from the hustle and bustle of the Eastern Suburbs.
BEER GARDEN
Often called a country pub in the city, The Nelson Hotel’s Beer Garden embraces this reputation with its rustic, reclaimed fit-out, ideal for soaking up the afternoon and welcoming the night-time sky above.
BISTRO
Young, old or in-between, The Nelson Hotel’s Bistro has something to satisfy everyone. As well as grass-fed steaks from the grill and traditional faves like bangers, burgers and schnitties, there’s seafood, pasta and salads, including vegan and gluten-free options.
DINING ROOM
Up on Level One, The Nelson Hotel’s sun-drenched Dining Room is where you can enjoy the best our Bistro has to offer. Think long lunches and decadent dinners with friends and family or a space away from the office to knuckle down to a new project, well away from the water cooler.
KIDS ROOM
Kids are welcome at The Nelson Hotel. So much so, we’ve created a kid’s playroom off the Bistro so they can enjoy themselves while the kitchen prepares parent-approved meals for their little tastebuds. There’s even free wi-fi.
Please be mindful that The Nelson Hotel is only licenced to have kiddos in the Bistro and Saloon Bar under the watchful eye of their parents.
BOTTLE SHOP
The Nelson Hotel’s small but popular Bottle Shop on Nelson Street is well stocked with enticing craft beers, longnecks of your old favourites and a great selection of wines, champagne and spirits.
